While Jessica (my look book guru) is working on laying out and editing the photos for the look book this week, I have some time to scour the internet looking for things to keep my right brain active.

more than I could hope for.

Friday was perfect!! We had a blast, dancing, drinking and being hilarious.
From what I have seen the photos look fantastic. David is a phenomenal photographer! While editing them down Saturday, Kyle came up and said "wow, those look professional"- job done :) (he's a tough critic)

Once I get the balance of photos from David today, I'm going to drive up to LA and work on laying out the book with Jessica from Destined to Design! Last leg of the process...almost over the hump.

Finished product!!

Just received my final samples this morning and I can't help but dance around the room and sing to my dog, I am THAT pleased with them. I can't believe how great they all came out and that they are finally all here. It feels as though I just gave birth to 21 little babies. (no offensive mamas :)
What a stessful week of scheduling the photo shoot and then rescheduling... I'm so thankful that I'm working with considerate, professional and flexible people! Thank you Heather, Haydee, David and Amanda.

I will update you on the photo shoot tomorrow.

meet amy of tibi...

Did anyone else catch the season finale of "The City" last night? I just love that show and while I'm on the subject, I am totally going to miss "The Hills" next season. In fact, I have been singing the theme song all morning. I'm in mourning.


In any case, the designer of Tibi, Amy Smilovic was in Tokyo with Olivia last night on the season finale of "The City" and it got to me to thinking how great of a clothing line Tibi is and how inspirational the founder(s) are.

Amy started her career in fashion after moving to Hong Kong in 1997. This is where she drew inspiration from her travels and conceptualized a darling little contemporary line, Tibi with her husband and business partner, Frank Smilovic. Today, Tibi can be found in over 500 stores and department stores worldwide.

The great thing is that she held a cushy executive job at American Express before branching out and taking the risk of starting her own thing! How inspiring!!

photo shoot info part 15

I just recently commissioned the multi-talented Jessica from destined to design to layout the look book. We had a really great meeting on Saturday where she was able to mock up a page in the look book with downloaded fonts and polaroid images. I CANNOT WAIT to see what she comes up with.
Also last week, David from Brixton hat company graciously offered his studio for the photo shoot. And if that wasn't enough... he has also offered to photograph the session as well! I don't know what I've done to have such great people fall into my lap but I feel exceptionally lucky!
btw: Brixton has some REALLY great hats...Check em' out!

It feels like everything is finally falling into place. Now the only thing I need to worry about is if the samples will be here by Thursday. (fingers crossed)

Leave it to Valentino to end the Paris Couture week with a lavish party hosted in his Louis XIII-style chateau. The star studded event was a showcase of the designer's archived collections and a great way to bid adieu to the crazed Spring 2011 couture season.

What a wonderful surprise to find out that Entreprenette Gazette chose my admission for the article on "100 (plus) Reasons to Become an Entreprenette" (I'm #100). I know it's small but this is the first time I have been "published" and I couldn't be happier!!

I am in awe of Karl Lagerfeld, in awe! I saw a documentary on him recently, Lagerfeld Confidental which has since made it feel as though I know him personally, don't you just love it how good documentaries can do that?! Once I saw him at Mercer kitchen in New York eating lunch. I mean, if that doesn't constitute as bestie material I don't know what does :)

and then I found some ad shots with Vanessa Paradis. Not only is she the "life partner" of Johnny Depp she had to go ahead and become friends with Karl. Did you also know that she has had a fairly popular music career?

They are both stunning if I do say so myself.

working out the kinks

I am REALLY, REALLY trying hard to have the photo shoot this Saturday!! It all depends on if the lovely P can send the remaining samples out this week but I probably won't know until the end of it :) However in preparation, my beautiful model Heather and one of my besties, Amanda came over yesterday to do a test run of hair and makeup. It was a lot of fun and definitely put my mind at ease a bit. Lucky for me, Heather looks amazing in all of the stuff and with each outfit I got more excited.
Additionally, Amanda and I hit up F21 last night to fill in any jewelry that we think was still missing. Still need a pair of fabulous shoes, hoping to find those today. I'll keep you posted...

a big thank you.

A big thank you to Haydee for coming over and spending a few hours talking about price points, studio locations and public relations. You have given me A LOT to think about.

Some other things on my plate today: continuing to research international trademarks, fit comments for the last two samples and putting together the outfits and pulling accessories for the photo shoot (working towards July 10th :).

to date: I have received all 22 1st samples and 15 2nd samples.

Other than that the rest of my day will include lunch with my honey and a "blogger's night out"- happy hour style. Looking forward to seeing all the beautiful bloggies and FINALLY being able to wear my vintage La Feem necklace that I just recently purchased!!
